ABOUT US
HOW A BUNCH OF ARTISTS AND AN AWESOME SISTER HATCHED AN IDEA TO BRING TOGETHER LOCAL ARTISTS, BUSINESSES AND KIDS!
Hey, thanks for checking us out!
After making the change from Graphic Designer to artist in 2020, Sarah The Painter saw some success in creating commissions for local families and businesses, as well as creating classes for kids and adults in her studio in Williamson Street. These classes TOOK OFF and luckily she knew an amazing artist, Stacey Ballard (Art with Stacey) who could come on board to help teach some of the kids classes and offer some watercolour classes for both kids and adults. She was also lucky enough to join an exhibition curated by Nathan Sims (aka Mr. Dimples) and there she met Nadee (Nadee J Art), while enjoying a new friendship with local artist Bridie O'Toole (Totooley Doodles) and then later, her sister, Frankie (Frankie O, One Drawing a Day).
Add a Gemma (Sarah's sister - ex-chef and now Studio Manager for Sarah The Painter) and we have an amazing team, dedicated to promoting art by local artists, including youths, and linking these amazing artists with local businesses and opportunities.
Our mission is to promote, encourage, enhance and support local artists.
We aim to do this in many ways.
The first of which are a series of Community Art Markets, running in the Hargreaves Mall in Bendigo this market season.
Other ways we are looking to support local artists:
• marketing and promotion in the local area
• linking artists with local businesses who may like to display artwork in their reception area, sponsor an exhibition, sponsor an artist, sponsor a youth in art, scholarship support, fundraising opportunities
• exhibitions and markets for local artists
• education for local artists in marketing
• disability support and art therapy
• community art sessions
• art to improve mental health
• youth pathways - portfolio creation, pattern making, online store setup
